BEC-Tero eyes 3 countries

BEC-Tero eyes 3 countries

BEC-Tero Entertainment plans to expand its ticketing services, music and show business into Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia next year through its newly established business unit BEC-Tero Music.

“We expect that the new unit will be able to generate at least 7 per cent of total revenue next year,” Pongpunt Wongnongteoi, strategic planning director at BEC-Tero Entertain-ment, said yesterday.
BEC-Tero Music will be the exclusive licensee and distributor for companies such as Sony Music (Thailand), LOVEiS, Bakery Music and Black Sheep in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. The unit will also have responsibility for artist management as well as organising concerts and shows for singers contracted to those music companies.
Deputy managing director Neil Thompson said the company was set to bring in digital music service and organised concerts of international artists under the management of Sony Music (Thailand) or local artists from partnered music companies to Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia. One of these partners is Forever BEC-Tero, a 49:51 joint venture with the largest media group in Myanmar.
In the domestic market, the company aims to leverage music content through television programmes on ThaiTV3, radio, live concerts and events as well as sponsorship programmes.
“This will be a perfect business synergy of all business units under the umbrella of BEC-Tero Enter-tainment,” Thompson said.
This year the music business has witnessed flat growth in terms of market size, worth Bt2 billion. Pattra Boosarawongse, general manager of BEC-Tero Music, said Sony Music (Thailand) could retain a strong market share of 5 per cent of the total industry.

PARTNERS
After BEC-Tero Music becomes the distributor for this international music firm, Pattra believes that her department will be able to create more income for her business partners, particularly from the development of third-generation wireless connectivity.
BEC-Tero Entertainment ex-pects its music business to account for at least 7 per cent of total income next year, from nothing now.
Pongpunt said the company expected 10-per-cent growth this year from Bt2.6 billion last year, rising to Bt3 billion in 2013. Of total revenue this year, 50 per cent will come from ThaiTV3, 25 per cent from concerts and events, 10 per cent from radio business, 6 per cent from Thai Ticket Major and the rest from other ventures.
