TrueVisions launches new channel for Manchester United soccer fans

TrueVisions yesterday partnered with the Manchester United Fan Club to launch the MUTV Channel as a part of its customer-retention plan, particularly for soccer fans, before the new season of the English Premier League kicks off on arch-rival CTH.

“We are now happy with the churn rate, which is still below our estimate. We also expect that our existing subscribers who want to watch live EPL matches will opt to stay with us and buy a new set-top box provided by the EPL rights holder,” said Ong-ard Prapakamol, chief commercial officer.
In the past several months, the leading subscription-based TV operator has rolled out marketing events to introduce new packages, relaunch a mobile application called “TrueVisions Anywhere”, and premiere this new soccer channel, which aims to attract the more than 14 million Manchester United fans in the country.
Worldwide, Manchester United FC is also the most popular soccer club with the most followers.
With MUTV on its platform, TrueVisions believes it can maintain its position as the “King of Sports” with a variety of sports competitions, particularly soccer leagues such as the Uefa Champions League, FA Cup, Capital Cup and Italian Football Series A. TrueVisions offers 25 sports channels, including seven in high definition (HD).
The new channel is on TrueVisions 119 and will be developed into an HD channel by the first quarter of next year. Subscribers of the Supersports Package and above can view this TV channel. A campaign will be organised to take lucky fans to England on an exclusive trip to see a big match live at Old Trafford Stadium in Greater Manchester. Managing director Anat Mekpaiboonvatana said his company had secured a three-year exclusive deal to broadcast MUTV, which has been available since September 10, 1998, as the official TV channel for Manchester United, with the aim to bring the fans closer to the soccer club.
The programme line-up includes summer tour matches of the team live from the stadiums in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Sweden as well as Old Trafford.
Fans can also enjoy live broadcasts of reserves and youth games, atmosphere and behind-the-scene sneak peeks and practices from Carrington, Trafford, and classic games and analysis by legendary gurus such as Denis Irwin, Gary Pallister and Andy Cole. Special guests include Denis Law, David May and Nicky Butt.
