Boonlert, who is managing director of BLC Cosmetic Co Ltd, set up the company in February 2013 with Bt1 million in initial registered capital.
The aim is to build BLC into a cosmetics brand following its first product – toothpaste made from cold-pressed coconut oil – which was launched into the domestic market as the first of its kind in Thailand about three years ago, he said.
“Before creating my own branded cosmetics, I referred to the royal guidance of His Majesty the King about working. If you have a chance to do any work, you should do it willingly and without any obstructive condition. Working people will be able to attain higher achievement if they take a strong interest, work hard, and are assiduous and honest,” he explained.
He soon realised the great potential for distributing the company’s BLC toothpaste both in Thailand and other markets within the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
The company has appointed sales agents for the toothpaste in many provinces, including Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathami, Nong Khai and Nakhon Panom, and will also enter the multi-level marketing network.
“We are also going to sign an online distribution deal with 24 Shopping Co Ltd, a subsidiary of CP All, in the near future,” Boonlert said.
“We will also register BLC toothpaste as an official halal product, so that it can be exported to Muslim countries within the AEC. I also want to cater to Thai consumers, giving them the opportunity to use quality products, and I want to create jobs for people. Part of the revenue will be returned for the development of our society,” he added.
Located in Samut Prakan’s Phra Samut Chedi district, BLC Cosmetic’s factory is now able to produce 600-1,000 kilograms of toothpaste a day, resulting in 5,000-10,000 units.
The facility employs four salaried workers and five temporary ones, with eight hours of production a day.
In the near future, the company will expand the plant to comply with good manufacturing practices (GMP), the managing director said.
“We have a concrete policy to focus on the continuous development of our production process and cosmetic products, as they will be a key factor in leading the company to business excellence and goodness,” he added.
Meanwhile, annual sales have surged from between Bt80,000 and Bt100,000 in the first year of operation, to something in the range of Bt250,000-Bt300,000 expected for this year.
“Our BLC toothpaste has been recorded in the ‘Thailand Book of Records’ as the first toothpaste in Thailand that is made from pressed cool coconut oil as its major ingredient. It helps whiten teeth and prevent bad breath,” he said.
