Honda’s Thai sales of passenger cars up 14% in first half The Nation

Honda Automobile (Thailand)’s sales in the passenger-car market during the first half of the year totalled 61,428 units, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Sales so far this year are up 14 per cent over the same period last year, which enabled Honda to capture a 33-per-cent market share by gaining consumers’ trust and confidence continuously, plus the launches of five new models during the first six months, the company said.
The new Honda models are the latest versions of the City, Civic Hatchback, CR-V, Mobilio and Jazz.
The subcompact Honda City had the highest sales in its segment, with a total booking of more than 22,000 units.
Another important model is the all-new Honda CR-V, a premium SUV with a 1.6L i-DTEC diesel turbo engine or a 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC engine.
Honda Automobile (Thailand) said the new CR-V had received excellent feedback, emphasising its popularity in the SUV category with 6,500 bookings in less than four months following its launch.
The company also reported total passenger-car sales from all auto-makers from January to June were an estimated 186,000 units, some 19 per cent more than in the first half of 2016.
Total sales for all types of vehicle in the Thai market were about 410,000 units, representing 11-per-cent growth compared to the corresponding period last year.
These industry-wide numbers include predictions of sales in June by some of the other automobile companies, Honda said.
