AirAsia launches daily Don Mueang-Ranong route

AirAsia is adding again to its domestic network with a daily direct flight from Don Mueang to Ranong, inviting travellers to experience Thailand’s “Onsen city”, pristine islands and waters and providing a gateway to Myanmar, while looking to boost the economy of the southern province.

The route debuts at a promotional fare starting at Bt590 per trip, which is now available for booking for travel from February 16 next year.
Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia, said AirAsia had been adding domestic routes based on a strategy of utilising its flight bases outside of Bangkok, so as to increase coverage of the country and provide travellers with new and convenient ways to travel from region to region.
He added that the approach had so far been well received.
AirAsia continues to create new opportunities with routes that the airline strongly believes have potential, such as Don Mueang-Ranong, which is Thai AirAsia’s 35th domestic connection, making it the carrier with the most flights to the nation’s South.
Thai AirAsia now operates 17 routes to and from the South, and is both the region’s and the country’s leader in terms of the number of routes being offered.
“Ranong is a province with a coast on the Andaman Sea and has many allures, whether historical or natural, and [Ranong city] was included on the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s ‘Cities to Not Miss Plus’ list.
“Attractive to both Thai and foreign visitors, the city is Thailand’s only destination for enjoying ‘onsen’, with its many hot springs. It is home to the splendid Koh Payam, Koh Chang and Koh Kam Archipelago and serves as a gateway from Thailand to Myanmar,” Tassapon said.
Bookings must be made by December 23 to benefit from the promotional fare on the new route.
