FOR those traditional small and medium-sized enterprises that want to put their business online, there are five steps to enable you to achieve your goal, experts said.
Pornthip Kongchun, Thailand marketing manager at Google, outlined the five steps at a seminar titled “Online Business Trends in the Digital Economy Era” held yesterday in Bangkok by Manager Online.
They are: create a website; conduct marketing online; advertise on social media; provide video advertising; and advertise on mobile platforms.
“I think that traditional and online channels will both have important roles for business, since they can be integrated to bring in new customers and provide their products and services via multiple screens,” Porntip said.
Wimonkan Kosumas, acting director-general of the Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion (OSMEP), said online transactions and online business had the potential to allow enterprises to expand their customer base, both locally and internationally. However, online entrepreneurs should be aware of international business cultures such as being able to meet customers’ demands and providing their products on time.
She said OSMEP would develop seminars to advise small and medium-sized enterprises how to do business online. Lynda Wangvanich, an assistant vice president at Total Access Communication (DTAC), said the firm also supported SMEs wanting to do business via the Internet.
Songyot Kanthamanont, managing director of ReadyPlanet, said the keys to success for online entrepreneurs were providing unique or rare products, providing special services, and offering affordable prices.
