New CFO for thai airways

Thai Airways International’s board of directors has appointed Narongchai Wongthanavimok, who was chief financial officer of CIMB Thai Bank, as new CFO at Thai Airways. His appointment will become effective on July 15.

Narongchai, 53, was approached by THAI president Charamporn Jotikasthira as the two men knew each other from working together at Siam Commercial Bank.

Rice auction in july

The Commerce Ministry is set to open the year’s fourth rice auction next month, and will announce the regulations for the sale by Friday. It foresees heavy demand in the market after the recent drought reduced the supply of rice.

The price of vegetables has skyrocketed during the drought, while meat prices have also increased, said Bangjongjit Angsusingh, deputy director-general of the Foreign Trade Department.

SFIs expo this weekend

The “SFIs Expo” will be held in Bangkok and four other provinces – Udon Thani, Rayong, Chiang Mai and Songkhla – this weekend, Finance Ministry permanent secretary Rangsan Sriworasart said.

This expo estimates deposits of more than Bt5 billion and credit for small businesses of more than Bt8 billion.
