To facilitate opening of the first Tim Hortons branch in Thailand, Restaurant Brands International Inc (RBI)- the owner of quick-service restaurant brands Tim Hortons, Burger King, and Popeyes granted WeEat Co(WeEat) the exclusive right to own, build and operate restaurants under the Tim Hortons brand in the Kingdom.

WeEat expands the business interest of the Wattanavekin family, whose business interest extends across many industries with the ownerships of Kiatnakin Bank, The Erawan Group, Eastern Sugar and Cane Group, as well as food retail companies.

Established in 1964, Tim Hortons currently has over 4,850 restaurants worldwide. The iconic Canadian brand’s first Thai restaurant at Samyan Mitrtown will mark the brand’s expansion into its fourteenth country globally. WeEat and RBI are confident in the growth opportunity of the Thai coffee market and WeEat plans to expand the brand nationally.

Supatchara Wattanavekin
Supatchara Wattanavekin, CEO of WeEat, commented, “The idea of introducing Tim Hortons to the Thai market originated in mid-2018. We saw a continuous growth of 13 per cent per annum in Thailand’s quick-service restaurant industry between 2012 and 2017 of which the coffee segment has grown at an even faster rate, 22 per cent between 2016 to 2018, according to Euromonitor. Moreover, only a limited number of world-class coffee chains comparable to Tim Hortons have been established in Thailand despite the growth over the past few years and we are confident that our Thai guests will love Canada’s favourite coffee ".

And the first guest in line will receive free Tim Hortons coffee for 365 days while the next 99 guests will receive one-month of free 100 per cent Premium Arabica brewed coffee, hot or iced.
