Suwanna Buddhaprasart, chief executive officer of LH Mall & Hotel, added that the GCP’s four hotels boasted 2017 revenue of more than Bt2.2 billion, an increase of 30 per cent from 2016.
She said that with an occupancy rate of 85 per cent per year, the growth is likely to continue this year, in line with the favourable trend in the overall outlook for tourism and hotel businesses.
The main customers of the group’s hotels are from Japan, Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia as well as the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand's estimates, the number of international arrivals in Thailand this year will reach 37 million, up from around 35 million last year. The government is continuing to launch policies aimed at promoting the domestic tourism industry and to improve the transport infrastructure related to tourism.
The group’s four hotels are the Grande Centre Point Ratchadamri, the Grande Centre Point Terminal 21, the Grande Centre Point Ploenchit and the Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55.
The group plans to open another hotel – the Grande Centre Point Pattaya – in the fourth quarter of this year. It will be the group’s first hotel outside Bangkok and, with its completion, the group will have five properties with a total of 2,100 rooms in service.
Suwanna said that one of the group's major strengths is location. All its hotels are in the heart of Bangkok, near department stores, shopping areas, central business and entertainment districts and with easy access to skytrain and subway stations.
The group has also improved its website – www.grandecentrepointhotels.com – to be more user-friendly with greater convenience for customers.
Suwanna said the group was seeking potential locations in Bangkok for a new hotel as part of its plan to open at least one new hotel per year in Thailand. The hotel business still has room for growth in the country, she said.
