Volkswagen seeks Myanmar partner

Volkswagen, German-based automobile manufacturer and the world's third largest car seller, is seeking a local partner in Myanmar to expand its market.

A businessman said the company is now under discussion with some of the country's top firms to open authorised dealerships.

A top Myanmar top company with investments in supermarkets, shopping centers, car show rooms and imported items, is most likely to get the deal with Volkswagen, a source said.

Volkswagen was founded in 1937. Among its well-known car models are Golf, Beetle and Passat.

It is headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany and sells passenger cars under Porsche, Audi, SEAT, Bentley, Bugatti, Scania and Skoda. It has sold an average of over four million cars annually.
