Tackling water shortage

The Kokkowa Water Project is currently being implemented to alleviate annual water shortages in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon, according to Kyaw Kyaw Win, a deputy minister from the President's Office.

MP Than Sein, who represents Kyimyindine Township, asked in a parliament session whether the government has any plans to combat water shortages in his township.
Kyaw Kyaw Win said: “The government is working with the Japan International Cooperation Agency to implement water supply projects in Yangon, and the Kokkowa project is one of the projects. After completing the project, the Kokkowa water station will supply about 60 million gallon of water daily to some wards in Kyimyindine Township. The project began last fiscal year.”
