Malaysia gains confidence of foreign investors says Japanese envoy to Malaysia

Japanese envoy to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa says local and foreign investors are regaining confidence due to fair and transparent policies implemented by the new government, leading Malaysia to a good development path.

The new government of Malaysia has launched fair, transparent and good governance policies to lead Malaysia to a good development path, says Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa.

At the celebration of 85th birthday of Emperor Akihito held here, he said the policies have helped to regain confidence of local and foreign investors and drive interaction between regional and international operators.

“The new business culture in Malaysia has changed the mindset of Japanese industries to positive. They are of the view that these are the new highlights and new destination for investment,’’ he said.

On the Look East Policy advocated by Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Miyagawa said the Look East Policy has been the guiding light and the policy is still alive between Japan and Malaysia.

Mooted by Dr Mahathir, Miyagawa said the policy resumes its vibrancy after Dr Mahathir is back in power again.
He is of the view that the security collaboration between Japan and Malaysia can continue to expand as the pillar for strategic partnership.

“Based on the reason stated above, we believe that the two countries would maintain close friendship,’’ he said.

In conjunction with 85th birthday of Emperor Akihito on 23 December, the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia hosted a reception. Dr Mahathir and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Ali were the guests of honour while Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng represented the Malaysian government to attend the reception.
