Anwar 'satisfied' about meeting with Dr Mahathir

PETALING JAYA: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was satisfied with the meeting held with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the latter's home earlier on Monday (Feb 24).

The Port Dickson MP said he was satisfied with Dr Mahathir's principle that the reform agenda must continue.

When asked if there will be a change in the government, Anwar said people should not give in easily.

"We should not give in to some groups who want to betray the mandate of the people from the last general election," he told reporters when he arrived at the PKR headquarters together with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at 12.45pm.

Some of his supporters gathered outside chanted "Reformasi" as he arrived with Dr Wan Azizah for a special central leadership meeting.

Pressed further if there will be any form of changes to the government, Anwar merely said he was unable to answer.

"We can only say that the meeting (with Dr Mahathir) went very well and I was moved with his attitude and his stand about the changes made that (he) will not give in to the groups that want to seize power without setting an agenda for change," he said.

Earlier, Anwar, Dr Wan Azizah and Lim Guan Eng had arrived at the Prime Minister's Office at Putra Perdana to meet Dr Mahathir but had left after they had learnt that he was not there.

They then headed to the premier's house at the Mines before coming to PKR headquarters for the special central leadership meeting.
