Fire burns down hall of old temple in Nakhon Phanom
A fire burned down the wooden sermon hall of an old temple in Nakhon Phanom province late Wednesday night, police said.
The fire started at 10pm at the sermon hall of Wat Phokham in Ban Nam Kam Nua, Tambon Nam Kam, in That Phanom district.
Two fire engines took almost an hour to control the blaze after it consumed the entire building.
Monks said the hall was built in 1955 and the temple itself was built in 1875.
A layman follower in the temple told police he heard explosion sound from the circuit breaker box in the hall and saw a fire start and spread quickly.
