Father arrested for allegedly stealing from teacher’s car

A father has been arrested for allegedly stealing Bt30,000, a camera and valuables from the car of his son’s teacher while dropping the boy off at school in Suphan Buri.

Pol Captain Atcharee Wutthiwatana, deputy inspector of Son Phi Nong police station, said Dej Somdee, 49, was arrested on Tuesday, hours after he allegedly stole from the unlocked car at a school in Tambon Hua Pho in Song Phi Nong district.
According to Atcharee, Dej admitted that when he took his 3-year-old son to school on the first day of the new semester, he noticed that the car was unlocked so he opened it and stole values inside. He said he did not know it belonged to his son’s kindergarten teacher.
Artcharee said Dej now felt guilty and was worried how his son could continue to attend class.
The teacher, Jiraprapha Plengparn, 27, said she has just been hired at the school. She said she forgot to lock the door.
Bt30,000 in cash, a camera, nine lottery tickets, and other valuables were stolen.
“I was shocked to see on footage from the school’s security camera that the thief was the parent of one of my students,” she said.
