Husband questioned after wife’s burned body found in Surat Thani

Police are questioning a 35-year-old man after his wife's burned body was found on a roadside in Surat Thani’s Kanchanadit district on Friday night.

Police have not yet laid any charges against Sarayut (surname withheld).
The remains of what police believed to be Jarinya Chuayphayak, 18, were found under the wreckage of her motorcycle on the Si Khuan Thong-Ban Khuan Racha rod in Moo 8 village in Tambon Chang Sai on Friday night.
Both the motorcycle and the body were badly burned.
Police have sent tissue samples for DNA tests to confirm the identity of the remains.
Jarinya’s uncle, Witthaya Parnnarin, 50, told police that the family believed the remains belonged to Jarinya, who has been missing since Monday.
Witthaya said the family suspected that there was foul play in Jarinya’s disappearance because her husband did not try to look for her and told the family not to file a complaint with police about her disappearance.
According to Witthaya, Sarayut claimed that Jarinya, who was pregnant, ran away from home following a quarrel with him.
