Vatanika Patamasingh introduces her new collection for autumn and winter

WHEN MASCULINITY meets femininity and the depleted architecture of Versailles hovers in the background, fashionistas know immediately that Vatanika Patamasingh has come up with yet another alluring collection.
For her autumn-winter 2015 outfits, Vatanika embraces 18th-century lavishness, using silk velvet and silk chiffon with golden threads and metallic jacquard fabrics with a ready-to-wear twist for luxurious outfits that can be worn every day.
The key element is the prints and these are inspired by Versailles’ extravagant boiseries and turned into reality with golden silk threads beautifully trailed on black, beige, brunette brown, dark blue and creamy white and printed on Italian linen.
Various techniques are adopted to create the magnificent details, such as three-dimensional floral patterns interwoven by hand that are inspired by wild flowers in the palace’s garden, moulage and oversized draping along with the dramatic silhouettes of peplum mini dresses and oversized coats. With sharply tailored velvet tuxedos and white silk suits with flared trousers, the collection elegantly blends masculinity with femininity. Charming and bold, these designs come with sexy details to celebrate the confidence of Vatanika ladies.
Additionally, two years after its successful debut, the “Araya x Vatanika” capsule collection has returned.
A collaboration between Vatanika and Thai fashion icon, Araya “Chompoo” Hargate, the limited edition outfits featured 15 looks in pink, green, yellow and light blue.
Vatanika says Chompoo’s lively and fun character has been stitched into every detail, with all her designs blended meticulously with Vatanika’s sleek and neat signatures.
“We’ve been talking about this collection for a long time. It’s a good break for me. Chompoo’s dreamlike ideas have been crafted into the patterns and the cuts to create a unique dimension for every piece,” the designer says.
Ethereal clouds come in pastel shades with the carousel underlining the fun and cheekiness of the collection and original plaids in various colours representing the carousel’s columns. Merry but not in the least childish, this key print is painted on the matching silk pyjamas and a balloon skirt. Flowers feature too with hand-made hydrangea shapes enhancing bodices and given a 3D structure with layered Guipure lace. Crop tops and dresses are sweet and cheerful, celebrating youth yet always elegant.
“What I like the most about the collection is the lace and the flowers,” says the actress.
“The lively and fun parts really define my style.”
Her fans though will probably be disappointed to learn that the limited edition designs were snapped up within hours of being shown on the catwalk.
The new Vatanika autumn-winter 2015 collection is however still available at Siam Paragon, EmQuartier, Central Chidlom |and online at Store.Vatanika-design.com.
