Nissan to introduce cutting-edge technology

Intelligent Mobility will answer to customers in terms of convenience and driving comfort

Nissan is planning to introduce cutting-edge technology and raise the competitiveness of its products with the introduction of intelligent mobility features for major markets around the world, including the Asean market.

Daniele Schillachi, head of Nissan’s global sales and marketing, said Nissan will introduce these technologies in the Nissan Note destined for this region next year.

“The Asia-Oceania region is an important market and Nissan will continuously introduce innovative technology that we already have as well as new ones, in coming models, such as the Nissan Note that we plan to launch in this region, including Thailand,” he said.

Created to guide the Nissan product evolution, Intelligent Mobility will anchor critical company decisions around how cars are powered, how cars are driven, and how cars integrate into society, all while staying focused on creating more enjoyable driving experiences.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility covers three areas of innovation:

Nissan Intelligent Driving – creating more driver confidence, spearheaded by Nissan’s autonomous drive technology, Piloted Drive

Nissan Intelligent Power – more efficiency, more power, spearheaded by electric vehicles (EV)

Nissan Intelligent Integration – new links between vehicles and

society

Each area represents cutting edge technological advances by Nissan: safety innovations through autonomous technology, such as high-stability control and high-reliability drive systems; high-efficiency powertrains, including alternative and conventional fuel engines with advanced transmissions; and energy management solutions.

Meanwhile in the Asia-Oceania region, Nissan has six production hubs with over 11,000 employees and 750 dealerships. Sales reached 270,000 in 2015. “We also have a modern R&D centre in Thailand, and Nissan sees the opportunity for growth,” said Yutaka Sanada, president of Nissan Motor Asia Pacific.

“Our goal is to increase our market share in this region to double digits within the next five years, and the strategy that will help us achieve that is giving importance to customers and product strategy.”

Increasing population in this region is causing traffic and social problems, and people are more concerned about safety and the environment.

“Future Nissan products for this region will come with Nissan Intelligent Mobility that will answer to customers in terms of convenience and comfort, safety, environment as well as lifestyle with modern connectivity,” he said.

Emerging markets in this region for Nissan include Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), with all the countries having high growth potential.

“The Asean community represents an important key for growth and Thailand is the production and export base to over 110 countries for Nissan. It has strong potential in production, modern R&D facility, market experience and human resources. These qualities will give Thailand an important role for the region as well as for the global marketplace for Nissan,” Sanada said, adding that Nissan has also chosen Thailand as the export base for auto parts to other regions of the world.

Motors has also dramatically strengthened the group, leading to strategic cooperation in the future in terms of purchasing, production, material sourcing, technology and engineering.

“Nissan Thailand and Nissan Indonesia will benefit from this cooperation, particularly in terms of cost management and competitiveness,” he said.
