Ceremony to recognize 2019 Princess Srinagarindra awardees held

Professor Dr Serara Segarona Kupe-Mogwe and Junko Kondo are this year’s recipients of the Princess Srinagarindra Award for their contribution to health care systems in South Africa and Japan.

Executives of Thai Airways were on hand to congratulate Dr Kupe-Mogwe, who has greatly contributed to the development of the health care systems in Botswana and South Africa, and Professor Emeritus Junko Kondo for her work in developing nursing education and midwifery in Japan. They were selected from a list of nominated registered nurses and midwives from all around the world, with the awards given out in a ceremony at the Chakri Throne Hall of the Grand Palace.
The Princess Srinagarindra Award Foundation was established to mark the centenary of Her Royal Highness, the late Princess Srinagarindra Mahidol, the Princess Mother, in 2000. It is awarded annually to an individual or group of registered nurses and/or registered midwives who have made a significant contribution, through direct care, research, education or management, within the nursing profession and/or for the development of the nursing profession.
Thai Airways has provided support for this prestigious award since its inception, flying members of the selection committee and award recipients to Thailand.
