dtac readies to provide smooth connectivity during New Year 2020 celebration

dtac is boosting its network capacity in preparation for the surge in demand on mobile networks expected on New Year's Eve.

The extra capacity will ensure customers enjoy smooth connectivity at this critical time. New Year's Eve countdown destinations will be prioritized by rolling out temporary sites, mobile units and a 24-hour special taskforce for customer service and network management.

Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology Officer at Total Access Communication PLC or dtac, said: "dtac is set to provide unbuffered connectivity, delivering happiness to all customers during the New Year festival and long holidays. The Network Operation Center will be staffed accordingly, with a team dedicated to delivering optimum coverage over the New Year period at three prime locations: New Year's Eve countdown sites, transportation hubs and holiday routes."

 

1. New Year's Eve countdown destinations

Ahead of the New Year's Eve celebration, dtac's engineering, marketing and sales team have put measures in place to boost capacity at major hotspots around Bangkok, such as CentralWorld, Mega Bangna, Asiatique, Icon Siam, Central Plaza Westgate and Future Park Rangsit.

In provincial areas, capacity upgrades are also being carried out at popular hotspots. For example, Northern Thailand will include Tha Phae Gate, Maya Shopping Center and Central Festival in Chiangmai, Clock Tower, White Temple and Boon Rod Farm in Chiang Rai, Phayao Lake, Phumin Temple in Nan. Eastern Thailand will see upgrades to Balihai Bay Pattaya, Laemthan Bay Bangsaen in Chonburi. The Northeast will focus on Central Plaza Khina Kaen, Pha Taem National Park in Ubon Ratchathani. In the South, key areas include Central Festival Hatyai in Songkhla, Central Festival Phuket, the Clock Tower in Trang, Central Festival Samui and Koh Pha Ngan in Surat Thani.

 

2. Transportation hubs

dtac is also boosting its capacities in transportation hubs, such as bus terminals, train stations and airports.

 

3. Major holiday routes

dtac is monitoring and adding extra network capacity along main roads to popular holiday destinations and major arteries to Northern and Northeastern Thailand, where many will return to their hometown.
 
Additionally, dtac is adding special call center teams to service customers 24 hours a day, both through the 1678 hotline and online platforms such as Facebook and Line, ensuring both smooth service and the rapid handling of incidents.
