Peru's Nobel laureate Llosa: Dylan does not deserve literature prize

Manila - Peruvian Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa said Thursday he believes that Bob Dylan does not deserve this year's prize for literature.

Llosa, who received the literature prize in 2010, said that while he admired Dylan as a singer, he was not a good writer.
"I am an admirer of Bob Dylan as a singer, but I don't think he is a good writer," he told reporters in Manila, where he was visiting.
"The Nobel prize for literature is for writers, not singers," he added.
The Nobel committee announced on October 13 that Dylan was this year's recipient of the literature prize for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
Llosa was in the Philippines to hold lectures at two universities in Manila and receive an honorary degree. It was his second visit to the country.
