Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan Tuesday denied that high-ranking government authorities’ emails had been hacked.

If hacking did occur, the Ministry of Digital Economy and the  National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission as well as other concerned agencies would have to work together to prevent such crimes, he said.

Prawit added that the government had the capability to prevent unauthorised access. While the Defence Ministry and the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters had been hacked before, they were able to regain control of their computer systems, he said.

Prawit said he was not worried about getting his emails hacked because he did not have any secrets aside from those related to his work in government. He did not have personal emails, he added.
