His Majesty appoints new privy council

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun Tuesday appointed a new 10-member privy council with immediate effect.

The ten privy councillors are:

1. Gen Surayud Chulanont

2. Kasem Watanachai

3. Palakorn Suwanrath

4. Atthaniti Disatha-amnarj

5. Supachai Poo-ngam

6. Chanchai Likhitjitta

7. ACM Chalit Pukbhasuk

8. Gen Dapong Ratanasuwan

9. Gen Teerachai Nakwanich

10. Gen Paiboon Koomchaya

The appointment was countersigned by Privy Council President Gen Prem Tinsulanonda.

Dapong, the education minister, Thirachai, who is the ex-Army chief, and Paiboon, the justice minister, are new members of the Privy Council.

The seven others were privy councillors of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said the Cabinet will be reshuffled after Paiboon and Dapong have been appointed to the Privy Council.

He said Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha will make the final decision on the Cabinet reshuffle.

Prawit said he was glad that His Majesty the King entrusted the two ministers to work in the Privy Council.
