Two more privy councillors appointed

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Tuesday appointed two new members of Privy Council with immediate effect.

According to the Royal Gazette published Tuesday, the King appointed Wirat Chinvinijkul, vice President of The Supreme Court, and Jaranthada Karnasuta, advisor of The Office of His Majesty´s Principal Private Secretary, as new privy councillors.
The new appointments raised the total number of the Privy Council members to 13 with General Prem Tinsulanonda selected again as the president of the Privy Council. Nineteen councillors can be appointed under the provision of the 2014 interim charter.
The King earlier appointed ten advisers. They are Gen Surayud Chulanont, Kasem Watanachai, Palakorn Suwanrath, Atthaniti Disatha-amnarj, Supachai Poo-ngam, Chanchai Likhitjitta, ACM Chalit Pukbhasuk, Gen Dapong Ratanasuwan, Gen Teerachai Nakwanich, and Gen Paiboon Koomchaya.
Among the 13 advisers, Wirat, Jaranthada, Gen Dapong, former education minister, Gen Teerachai, ex-Army chief, and Gen Paiboon, former justice minister, are new members of the Privy Council. The other seven were Privy Councillors under the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and were reappointed.
