Five southern provinces will have to brace for possible landslides and recurring floods, as heavy downpours are again spreading over their areas.

The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DPMD) Monday announced that at risk were Chumphon, Surat Thai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla.

These five provinces were among eight provinces to face heavy rain at least until tomorrow.

DPMD Chatchai Promlert said he had instructed his department’s local offices to watch out for possible dangers from flooding and landslides in those provinces.
