Administrative court rejects Boonsong, Poom’s request for injunction on rice deals

The Central Administrative Court Friday rejected a request by former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom and former deputy commerce minsiter Poom Sarapol for a court injunction to block the government from seizing their assets related to fake rice deals.

Boonsong and Poom asked the court to issue the injunction pending a final court ruling on the case of fake government-to-government rice deals.
The Commerce Ministry has signed an executive order to seize assets wroth Bt1.77 billion from Boonsong and Bt2.3 billion from Phum.
The court reasoned that the Legal Execution Department has not yet taken actions to seize the two assets so their complaint was rejected.
The court said once the department enforces the order to seize the assets, they can file a new complaint with the court to suspend the seizure.
