Phichit farmers suffering after Yom River runs dry
A 50-kilometre section of Yom River that passes through Phichit province has run dry, revealing the sandy riverbed, a source at Tambon Wang Chik of Phichit's Pho Prathab Chang district said on Friday.
The dry section is part of a 127-kilometre section of the Yom that runs through four districts of Phichit - Sam Ngam, Pho Prathab Chang, Bung Narang and Pho Thalae. Most severely affected by the parched are farmers, who have been left without water for rice paddies planted along both sides of the river.
