BIG + BIH fairs to promote Thailand as hub for trade in gifts and homeware

THE Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Ministry of Commerce are working with the Thai Lifestyle Products Federation and Design & Objects Association to present BIG + BIH April 2017, the 43rd Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International Houseware Fair.

BIG + BIH will be held from April 19-23 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). The trade days are on April 19 and 20, from 10am to 6pm, The fairs will be open to the public on April 22-23.
The shows will serve as an important platform for the trade of gifts and homeware between Thai entrepreneurs and international buyers, while aiming to promote Thailand as a production and export centre for gifts, home decoration and homeware in Asean.
The fairs are expected to contribute to more than Bt700 million in cash flow for the industry, Malee Choklumlerd, director general of the DITP, said.
She added that there are several positive factors that will drive demand for lifestyle product from Thailand since the growth of the world economy has shown positive trends.
China has been able to maintain its economic growth while the US economy is improving. Most importantly, the Asean economy will continue to grow steadily.
As a result, Ministry of Commerce has set an export growth target in 2017of 5 per cent. Within this sector, lifestyle products are among Thailand’s top exports, accounting for US$2.7 billion in export sales in 2016. To reach the export target, in April the Department of International Trade Promotion has invited foreign buyers to meet Thailand’s lifestyle product producers and exporters at BIG + BIH.
The fairs will feature more than 400 entrepreneurs in 1,200 booths.
