Mahaisawan traffic tunnel set for official opening
Deputy Bangkok Governor Chakkaphan Phiewngam on Friday (April 7) inspected the underground traffic tunnel at the Mahaisawan intersection ahead of its planned official opening next week.
The capital’s longest four-lane road tunnel at 1.5 kilometres is five metres underground. The project took almost five years to complete and has been in use unofficially since September 30.
The tunnel accommodates traffic flow between the left bank (Thonburi side) of the Chao Phraya River and right bank at Phra Nakhon and is expected to ease congestion on Somdet Phrachao Taksin Road.
