Four people were injured when the driver of an allegedly speeding car lost control on Bangkok’s Lat Phrao Road, crashed through sidewalk tree planters and struck two pedestrians on Monday morning, police said.

Police were on the scene at 7am immediately following the accident at the foot of Lat Phrao Soi 97.

Driver Issara Baisukhan, 25, and front-seat passenger Urairat Boonpha, 20, were injured along with pedestrians Prasarn Indaeng and Sudjai, Raksuang, both 54. All were taken to Lat Phrao Hospital.

Eyewitnesses told police they saw the speeding car careen through the roadside tree planters and strike the pedestrians before coming to a halt lodged between a power pole and the façade of a building.

Police planned to interrogate the driver as soon as he was sufficiently recovered.
