Elderly couple seeks help over care of 51-year-old paralysed daughter
An elderly couple has issued a call for help regarding the care of their 51-year-old paralysed daughter and expressed concern for her welfare.
The 85-year-old father and 78-year-old mother live alone with their daughter in a small house in Tambon Klonghok of Pathum Thani’s Klong Luang district.
The father, Prasert Pan-uthai, said he needed help to pay for disposable adult diapers because his daughter could neither move nor talk.
Prasert said his savings and money from the sale of a larger house in Bangkok had been spent caring of his daughter. The family is living on government allowances for the elderly and disabled totalling Bt2,300 a month. Most of that money is spent on utilities, he added.
Prasert said when he was working for MCOT, he did not have any problem taking care of his daughter.
The family has seven sons and two daughters, with the disabled woman being the fifth child, but Prasert said his other children had left home and started their own families.
He added that his daughter’s disability stemmed from a polio vaccine she had when she was one and a half.
