Villagers in Uttaradit’s Pichai district on Monday called on the authorities to urgently repair the wooden platform of a pedestrian/motorcycle bridge along a railway bridge.

Sathit Thingtron, head of Moo 4 village in tambon Ban Dara, said residents of his village need to use the bridge to travel in and out of the village.

He said the 1.5-metre-wide bridge was built during the reign of King Rama V along with the Poramin railway bridge.

He said only the railway bridge received maintenance while the pedestrian bridge has not receive repairs and the planks have fallen off.

Sathit said villagers place planks over the holes but the bridge is unsafe.
