Insured people and their employers can apply for a Social Security Office (SSO) contribution refund starting from Thursday, as the amended regulation under the SSO Act is now in effect.

Those eligible and wishing to get the refund should file a request at any SSO branch office. If approved, they will receive the money via a bank account.

The SSO will also periodically check if there were employers who overpaid and notify them to file requests for a refund.

The refund is available for insured persons or employers who automatically paid the SSO contribution beyond what was actually required. For example, a worker who resigned from a job when they or their employer already paid the SSO contribution, or a worker who resigned from a previous job where they already paid the SSO contribution, and had a sum automatically deducted when they started their new job with an overlapping month, might qualify for a refund.
