Two Taiwanese fishing boats seized for allegedly smuggling diesel oil into Phuket

Thai customs officials have arrested two Taiwanese captains and 12 Taiwanese and Indonesian crew members after their two tuna fishing boats were found to have smuggled 47,000 litres of diesel oil into Phuket.

The two boats were found floating about two nautical miles north of Tapaoyai island in Phuket.

Customs officials checked and found four hidden chambers on each of the boat and the eight chambers were carrying some 47,000 litres of diesel oil.

Wang Yao Yu, the captain of Ching Chungfa No 168 boat and Huang Chiang-Hsieh, captain of Chi Tsai No 16 boat, were arrested together with their crew members.
