EC endorses Sukhumbhand as Bangkok governor - for now
The Election Commission voted 4 to 1 to endorse the gubernatorial election winner, Sukhumbhand Paribatra, as the new Bangkok governor.
The EC decided to endorse Sukhumbhand’s victory as it could not wrap up investigations against him within 30 days as required by the election laws.
The EC will continue the investigations and if it finds grounds to suspect wrongdoings, it will have to ask the Central Appeals Court to disqualify Sukhumbhand later.
