Yala - Insurgents detonated a homemade bomb to ambush a unit of rangers, injuring three of them and three civilians Sunday morning.

Police said the explosion occurred at 6:20 am on a road in Moo 3 village of Muang district’s Tambon Satengnok.

Six rangers from the 41st Ranger Regiment were traveling in a pick-up truck heading to Yala downtown when insurgents detonated a bomb hidden at a power pole on the road island. The bomb was detonated by a walkie-talkie.

The blast slightly injured three rangers. A Muslim man and his son and daughter, who were standing nearby, were also slightly injured.
