Seven injured in Yala bomb attack

Seven injured in Yala bomb attack

A bomb attack erupted in Yala's Mueang district Wednesday morning, injuring seven victims. Most of them are territorial defence volunteers.

Police said the explosion took place in front of a house in an area where a team of territorial defence volunteers was carrying out their duty.
One of the volunteers, Sakchai Boonsas, sustained serious injuries.
Sakchai was about to sit on a chair in front of the house when a bomb hidden under suddenly went off. It was detonated by a cell phone.
The blast left a hole about 10 centimetres deep and one foot wide at the scene.
Police believed insurgents carried out the attack to fan out unrest in the deep South, which has seen bloody attacks going on almost on a daily basis for about a decade already.
