BMA to adjust bridges to accommodate wheelchair-friendly buses

BMA to adjust bridges to accommodate wheelchair-friendly buses

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is planning to improve the state of the bridges in the capital to accommodate the new fleet of Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) buses, which will have lower bases to allow easy wheelchair access.

“We will work closely with BMTA on this matter,” Deputy Bangkok Governor Jumpol Sumpaopol said Friday. He explained that the Bangkok public-transport system is used 6 million times per day.
The government has assigned the BMTA to purchase 3,183 lowered buses, of which 1,524 will be air-conditioned.
