Uncertified courses cited

Uncertified courses cited

Some universities have been offering uncertified programmes, making it difficult for students to graduate and pursue career opportunities, said Thanayuth Singhaseni, vice president of the Youth Network of Bangkok.

While many universities were preparing for graduation ceremonies during this period, some students complained to the network that they couldn’t get degrees because the programmes weren’t yet certified by Office of the Higher Education Commission (Ohec), he said. Such uncertified programmes also led to many issues including students’ inability to transfer credits to other institutes and loss of job opportunities in the civil service.
He urged private and state-run universities to arrange courses responsibly because their students’ futures could be ruined if they took uncertified programmes. He also urged high-school graduates continuing their education in universities to ask the Ohec whether the programmes they were interested in were certified before applying for them.
