Prayuth says Yala bomb attacks not linked to change of southern Army chief
Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha said Wednesday that recent bombing attacks in Yala had nothing to do with the change of Fourth Army Area commander who is in charge of the South.
“Why do you have to think that the change of the Fourth Army Area commander led to Yala’s bomb attacks. The two issues were separate,” Prayuth said.
The Army chief said insurgents wanted to step up attacks ahead of the Songkran festival.
He said the insurgents wanted also to scare Buddhists to leave the region.
