Former Army chief Gen Arthit dies at 89
Former Army commander-in-chief Gen Arthit Kalam-ek died at the Phra Mongkut Klao Hospital at 6:20 am Monday.
He was 89 years old. He was the Army chief during an administration of then prime minister Gen Prem Tinsulanonda.
Arthit used to be the supreme commander and a senator. He was succeeded as the Army chief by Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh in May 1986 after he criticized the government over baht devaluation.
