Thai police chief confirms death toll at 16
Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmuang confirmed that the death toll at the Ratchaprasong explosion was 16.
Somyot said the bomb was not a hidden in a motorcycle but it was planted at the location by the attackers.
He condemned the attackers as being cruel and intended to take lives at the location as bustling with commuters and tourists.
Three bombs were planted at the location but only one exploded and the two others were disposed by police officers.
