YANGON - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has picked Vietnam’s Viettel Co as the foreign partner of Myanmar National Telecom Holding, which together will be awarded the fourth telecom licence.
Myanmar National Telecom Holding has 11 domestic telecom companies as shareholders. It was established in September.
In the ministry's announcement, another partner of the holding company would be Star High, which was nominated in January by the Ministry of Defence.
Star High, Viettel and Myanmar National Telecom Holding will soon hold discussions on the telecom licence and investment.
On its website, Viettel said it has served over 200 million customers in 10 countries.
