Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said Thursday that he had ordered security agencies to tighten security around the Dhammakaya Temple.
Prayut said the tightened security would prevent people with malicious intention from sneaking in to create untoward incidents and blame them on the government.
Stand-off between followers of Dhammakaya abbot Phra Dhammachayo and officials of Department of Special Investigation after the abbot refused to meet the DSI officials to acknowledge embezzlement charges against him. The abbot’s followers had put barricades around the temple to prevent officials from breaking in to arrest the monk.
Prayut said the abbot had himself to blame for failing to meet the DSI officials so he could not leave the temple now.
