Vietnam house fire kills six
Hanoi - Six members of the same family were killed in a house fire in Ho Chi Minh City early Friday, local media reported.
The fire killed Tran Anh Thang, 47, his wife, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy,37, their three young daughters and a 36-year-old niece, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
The blaze spread upwards from the ground floor, which Thang had leased to run a cafe, Tuoi Tre said.
Second floor residents saved themselves by jumping from a balcony, according to Tuoi Tre.
The police investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing.
Fatal fires are common in Vietnam, where safety features such as smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are haphazardly installed.
