Government spokesman Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd Friday called for a constructive protest from those who opposed against the Krabi coal-fired power plant.

“They should suggest a long term solution for the country and people in southern provinces.  So far, we don’t see any proposal [from the opposition side],” he said.

Sansern insisted that the project will benefit people in term of energy security. The project is the most suitable investment when compared to other kinds of energy, he added.

The final decision on the power plant will be made today amid an uproar about the value of the plant and Thailand’s future energy policy.
