Free entry and exit fees for migrant workers during Songkran Festival
Migrant workers from Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos who want to return home during the Songkran Festival will be exempted from entry and exit fees.
The exemption, for travel between April 5 and 30, has been introduced for the first time this year. The decision was made at the weekly Cabinet meeting.
Deputy government spokesman Colonel Athisit Chaiyanuwat said the Interior Ministry was assigned to issue ministerial regulations to allow foreign workers to leave the country during the period.
The workers will need to provide a document that proves they are leaving Thailand to celebrate the festival, which falls on April 13 in Thailand.
