The Phichit Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) on Saturday launched the annual “Highlights of Phichit” fair, which allows farmers and fruit orchards owners to sell their produce directly to consumers.

The fair is held in front of the Phichit Pittaayakhom School in Muang district. It was inaugurated by PAO governor Chatchai Jiamsripong.

The main highlight of the fair is the mayongchit or Marian Plum fruit, widely known abroad as “Plango” derived from plum and mango.

Chatchai said consumers can buy grade-A mayongchit as well as mangoes, which are normally unavailable for domestic consumption, as all the local produce is exported.

The fair will continue on Sunday.
