The Health Service Support Department will on Friday morning check four fertility clinics in Bangkok after they were implicated in the smuggling of human semen to Laos apparently for in vitro fertilization and surrogacy.

Doctor Wisit Tungnaphakorn said the four clinics would face a probe after they were implicated by a man arrested in Nongkhai on Thursday while allegedly trying to smuggle six tubes of semen to Laos.

The suspect, Nithinon Srithaniyanan, said he had been receiving semen tubes in a frozen nitrogen tank from Jetanin, Superior ART, First, and I-Baby clinics in Bangkok to deliver them to VIP Clinic in Vientianne.

Wisit said he will hold a press conference in the afternoon after checking the four Bangkok clinics.
