Thailand to reinforce Energy 4.0 policy at international forum

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of Thailand will host the 6th International Energy Forum 2017 under the theme “Towards Smart Regulation” to reinforce the “Thailand 4.0” and “Energy 4.0” policies.

The event will be held on June 30 at Plaza Athénée Bangkok.
ERC commissioner Viraphol Jirapraditkul said the ERC had been organising the forum annually since 2010. It had been successful in creating the Asean Energy Regulators’ Network, to forge cooperation and good relations among energy regulatory agencies in Asean.
The network also acts as a platform for exchange of knowledge and sharing of experience. It aims to elevate the status of the energy regulatory agency to international level and enhance its standards to benefit all stakeholders more effectively. The ERC has organised five such forums so far, each linked to the existing situation or the government energy policy at the time.
Viraphol said this year’s forum under the theme “Towards Smart Regulation” has introduced the “Energy 4.0” policy to reinforce the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy and enhance cooperation and good relations among energy regulatory agencies around Asean.
The other objectives of Energy 4.0 are to encourage the creation of new energy-related innovations that will help modernise Thai businesses and enable them to compete in global markets.
“The success of the 6th International Energy forum will contribute to research and development advancement, human resource development, technological advancement, and energy industry promotion.”
